Prince’s horoscope

Music legend Prince is dead.

Hugely talented, recording 40 albums and selling more than 100 million records. What does Prince’s horoscope reveal about him? Such an extraordinary individual should have an extraordinary horoscope. And he does.

In this post, I’m going to take a brief look at some of Prince’s defining astrological ‘signatures.’

Prince was born on June 7th, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at 6:17pm. This birth data is rated ‘AA’ according to Astro.com. This means the data comes from his Birth Certificate. Using this information his horoscope (or ‘chart’) looks like this:

The most compelling and powerful signature in his chart is an opposition aspect (approx 180°). This aspect is between his Moon in Pisces and Pluto in Leo (blue arrows, above). Mozart also has a similar signature. His Moon-Pluto aspect was a conjunction (approx 0°) in Sagittarius.

In a nutshell, Moon-Pluto denotes a powerful, transformative (Pluto) emotional (Moon) life.

In Prince’s chart, this signature is further turbocharged. It’s boosted because Pluto is conjunct Prince’s 10th house cusp (aka boundary or border). The 10th house is associated with career. The 10th cusp is a defining point in a horoscope. Any planet placed there will have a profound influence on the individual. So here we have a powerful planet (Pluto) in a prominent and elevated position (10th cusp).

Pluto in this position denotes career themes of transformation and power. Someone who is an influential ‘game changer’. Moon and Pluto are also in angular houses (angular houses are the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th). This gives these energies particular prominence, or ‘loudness’. An angular planet in a horoscope can give 100% of its energy. Planets in these houses will be particularly noticeable in an individual’s expression.

Secondly, Neptune is in a trine aspect (approx 120°) to his Moon (green arrow). Neptune is mysterious, artistic, spiritual. These characteristics are connected to Prince’s main Moon-Pluto opposition. This aspect to mysterious Neptune is something Prince brought to his work. And it may account for his enigmatic changes of direction throughout his musical career.

Prince’s Moon is in the very sensitive sign of Pisces. Its aspect to Neptune enhances and broadens this sensitivity. It adds a ‘spiritual’ or ‘otherworldly’ dimension to his emotional life, a seeking for ‘higher love’. Together, this signature may account for his privacy, a wish for a private life out of the spotlight.

Finally, there’s a square aspect (approx 90°) between his Venus in Taurus and Uranus in Leo (red arrow). This indicates abrupt (Uranus) changes of direction. Particularly in Venus-related matters (art, music, desire, relationships). And since Venus rules his Taurus 7th house, it’s likely to play out in his relationships.
